It\u2019s legitimate AV software.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, its reviews are mixed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.av-test.org\/en\/antivirus\/home-windows\/windows-10\/february-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AV-TEST<\/a>, an independent organization that evaluates and rates antivirus and security suite software, rated TotalAV as a \u201cTop Product\u201d in February 2025 after it scored 6 points (\u201cOutstanding\u201d) in three areas: Protection, Performance, and Usability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"641\" height=\"47\" src=\"https:\/\/joindeleteme.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/totalavrating.png\" alt=\"TotalAV rating by AV-TEST\" class=\"wp-image-17420\" srcset=\"https:\/\/joindeleteme.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/totalavrating.png 641w, https:\/\/joindeleteme.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/totalavrating-300x22.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 641px) 100vw, 641px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>PCMag gives <a href=\"https:\/\/uk.pcmag.com\/antivirus\/118286\/totalav-free-essential-antivirus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TotalAV Free Edition<\/a> a 2.5 out of 5.0-star rating.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the cons listed are that the AV relies on Microsoft Defender for real-time protection and isn\u2019t great at protecting against phishing. PCMag gives <a href=\"https:\/\/uk.pcmag.com\/antivirus\/118394\/totalav-essential-antivirus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TotalAV Antivirus Pro<\/a> a 3.5 out of 5.0-star rating.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Notably, most of the comments under the PCMag review are quite negative, with many calling TotalAV a fraudulent company. According to them, TotalAV is #4 out of 30 AVs they reviewed.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The only things Comparitech doesn\u2019t like about TotalAV are that the renewal rate increases the cost of the AV significantly, there\u2019s no heuristic analysis and no firewall, and the Mac version of the AV is less robust.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On internet forums, the vast majority of people have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/computers\/comments\/1jfqcos\/total_av_reviews_are_there_any_complaints\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">very negative opinions<\/a> about TotalAV.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The most common complaints seem to be about how pushy TotalAV is and how hard it is to cancel the service.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TotalAV gets a 4.5 out of 5.0-star rating (from 134k ratings and 5m+ downloads) on <a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.totalav.android&amp;hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Google Play<\/a> and a 4.6 out of 5.0-star rating (from 65,266 ratings) on the <a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/totalav\/id1130411958\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">App Store<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"so-should-you-use-total-av\">So, Should You Use TotalAV?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Depends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re OK with what some perceive as aggressive marketing and billing practices by the company, then TotalAV can be a good choice.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, there may also be other alternatives worth exploring.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-to-use-total-av-safely\">How to Use TotalAV Safely<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Buy directly from Total AV. <\/strong>Skip third-party sellers and instead purchase directly from the official TotalAV website to reduce the risk of scams.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Use a virtual card. <\/strong>This can help you protect your financial details and manage auto-renewals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Turn off auto-renewal. <\/strong>Though the process is somewhat complicated, you <em>can <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/antivirus\/comments\/1ft4pqv\/i_just_quit_auto_renewal_for_totalav_not_easy_to\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">turn off auto-renewal online<\/a> to avoid surprise charges.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Keep track of your subscription.<\/strong> Set a reminder before renewal, as TotalAV\u2019s renewal price is higher than the initial price.
