However, whether it\u2019s a suitable option for you depends on a number of factors.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chime is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/technology\/373886\/cash-app-venmo-chime-account-protection-fdic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">neobank<\/a>, i.e., not a traditional bank. However, Chime partners directly with chartered banks that are FDIC-insured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your deposits with Chime are held at these partner banks, so they are covered by FDIC insurance up to $250,000 per depositor. href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.onedebit.chime&amp;hl=en_US\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Google Play<\/a> and a 4.8 out of 5.0-star rating (from 975,343 ratings) on the <a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/chime-mobile-banking\/id836215269\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">App Store<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chime gets a 1.3 out of 5.0-star rating (from 772 reviews and ratings) on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.consumeraffairs.com\/finance\/online-banks\/chime.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Consumer Affairs<\/a> and a 2.1 out of 5.0-star rating (from 1,407 rated reviews) on <a href=\"https:\/\/chime.pissedconsumer.com\/review.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PissedConsumer<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nerdwallet.com\/reviews\/banking\/chime-banking\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NerdWallet<\/a> gives Chime a rating of 4.3 out of 5.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Online user reviews of Chime are mixed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some users report <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/IRS\/comments\/1182o06\/do_any_of_yall_actually_use_chime_as_a_primary\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">having great experiences<\/a> with Chime.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, in one internet forum thread, the majority of respondents said they were using Chime as their main bank account without issues, with some saying they\u2019d experience<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One user said that someone was able to use their debit card number and use it to order prepaid debit cards under the Chime brand even though the name did not if they are missing or you suspect unauthorized use.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Real-time alerts. <\/strong>You can receive instant notifications for every transaction made with your Chime card and optional daily summaries so you stay updated on your account activity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Visa Zero Liability. <\/strong>Chime debit cards are protected by the Visa Zero Liability Policy, so you aren\u2019t held responsible for unauthorized charges.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Secure authentication. <\/strong>The Chime platform supports two-factor authentication and fingerprint
