This helps avoid scams, such as fraudulent deposits followed by reclaim attempts using stolen credit cards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For cancellations, refunds, or disputes, Cash App encourages users to first try and resolve issues with the merchant. Users were told to contact their banks to reverse fraudulent transactions and used tactics (like misleading language in their Terms of Service) to discourage users from seeking help directly from them in the first place.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company is now required to establish a 24-hour, live-person customer support system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Federal regulators are also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.paymentsdive.com\/news\/block-cash-app-enforcement-legal-action-whistleblower\/709170\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reviewing whistleblower complaints<\/a> against Block\u2019s Cash App over alleged insufficient identity verification measures that could allow fraud, money laundering, and even terrorism financing to occur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cash App has been involved in several breaches.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In one incident, a former Cash App employee <a href=\"https:\/\/www.upguard.com\/blog\/how-did-the-cash-app-data-breach-happen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">accessed and downloaded customer information<\/a>, which affected over 8 million users (exposing their personal details such as full names, brokerage account numbers, portfolio values, and trading activities).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/cash-app-money-settlement-2500-how-to-file-a-claim\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">another incident<\/a>, unauthorized users accessed Cash App accounts using recycled phone numbers.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Privacy&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Cash App describes the kind of information it collects, what it does with it, and whom it shares it with in its privacy policy.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cash App collects the following data:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>User-provided data.<\/strong> Includes personal details (name, email, phone, address, government IDs, biometrics), financial information (bank and card details), transaction details, and contacts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Automatically collected data.<\/strong> Information from devices and online interactions, such as IP addresses, device details, geolocation, browsing activity, and other usage data.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Additional data.<\/strong> Information provided for enhancing the user experience (like uploaded contacts or photos) and data gathered from third-party sources for identity verification, credit checks, and fraud prevention.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It uses this information for various purposes, including providing and improving its services, communicating, detecting and preventing fraud, and developing new features.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cash App may share your data with other users (e.g., for transaction details), internally with Cash App affiliates and group companies, rith third-party service providers, with merchants when processing payments, and in business transfers or corporate changes. It may also share this data for legal compliance and safety purposes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aggregated or anonymized data may be shared without identifying individual users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cash App can keep this information as long as you use the app and for as long as necessary to fulfill legal, security, and business requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the privacy policy, you have certain choices and rights.
