Code \u00a7 35-45-2-1<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"836\" src=\"https:\/\/joindeleteme.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/media-2024-04-19T173332.881-1024x836.png\" alt=\"Indiana intimidation \" class=\"wp-image-10173\" srcset=\"https:\/\/joindeleteme.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/media-2024-04-19T173332.881-1024x836.png 1024w, https:\/\/joindeleteme.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/media-2024-04-19T173332.881-300x245.png 300w, https:\/\/joindeleteme.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/media-2024-04-19T173332.881-768x627.png 768w, https:\/\/joindeleteme.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/media-2024-04-19T173332.881.png 1430w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Intimidation is a Class A misdemeanor in Indiana and comes with up to one year in jail and up to $5,000 in fines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the perpetrator threatens to commit a felony, or if they issued the threat using the electronic equipment of a school or government entity, they&#8217;ll be charged with a Level 6 felony instead, amounting to between 6 months and 2.5 years in prison and\/or up to a $10,000 fine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When a deadly weapon is involved in the threat, it&#8217;s a Level 5 felony, equating to between 1 to 6 years in prison and\/or up to $10,000 in fines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"false-reporting\">False reporting<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the more dangerous activities related to doxxing is <a href=\"https:\/\/joindeleteme.com\/doxxing\/what-is-doxxing-and-swatting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">swatting<\/a>, which occurs when someone who has your home address makes a call to law enforcement to give a false report about a violent crime happening there.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This typically prompts an emergency response from law enforcement, which has been fatal for unsuspecting victims in the past.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Indiana, false reporting (<a href=\"https:\/\/casetext.com\/statute\/indiana-code\/title-35-criminal-law-and-procedure\/article-441-offenses-against-general-public-administration\/chapter-2-interference-with-general-government-operations\/section-35-441-2-3-effective-712024-false-reporting-false-informing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ind. Code \u00a7 35-44.1-2-3<\/a>) is a Class B misdemeanor punishable by up to 180 days in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"297\" src=\"https:\/\/joindeleteme.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/media-2024-04-19T173336.599-1024x297.png\" alt=\"Indiana false reporting \" class=\"wp-image-10174\" srcset=\"https:\/\/joindeleteme.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/media-2024-04-19T173336.599-1024x297.png 1024w, https:\/\/joindeleteme.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/media-2024-04-19T173336.599-300x87.png 300w, https:\/\/joindeleteme.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/media-2024-04-19T173336.599-768x223.png 768w, https:\/\/joindeleteme.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/media-2024-04-19T173336.599.png 1370w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>If a victim is harmed as a result of the false report, the charge escalates to a Class A misdemeanor (amounting to up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $5,000) or a Level 6 felony (penalized by between 6 months and 2.5 years imprisonment and up to $10,000 in fines depending on the circumstances).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the swatting victim dies, it&#8217;s a Level 5 felony, resulting in between 1 to 6 years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"residential-entry\">Residential entry&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If someone knows where you live, they can break into your home.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Indiana, this is charged as a residential entry (<a href=\"https:\/\/casetext.com\/statute\/indiana-code\/title-35-criminal-law-and-procedure\/article-43-offenses-against-property\/chapter-2-burglary-and-trespass\/section-35-43-2-15-residential-entry\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ind. In those cases, there&#8217;s an ensuing penalty of between 1 to 6 years imprisonment and\/or a fine of up to $10,000.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"is-doxxing-illegal-at-the-federal-level\">Is Doxxing Illegal at the Federal Level?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There is <a href=\"https:\/\/joindeleteme.com\/doxxing\/is-doxxing-illegal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">no law against doxxing<\/a> at the federal level unless it pertains to the unauthorized sharing of restricted information about protected persons. This will tell you where your information appears online.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In most cases, shrinking your online footprint will involve:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Changing your privacy settings on social media platforms (including Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn) to prevent the general public from seeing your posts and biographical details.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Opting out of <a href=\"https:\/\/joindeleteme.com\/blog\/what-are-data-brokers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">data brokers<\/a>. These companies sell your personal information to any interested third parties for a nominal fee. Keep in mind that you\u2019ll need to repeat the process more than once, as data brokers notoriously reactivate profiles when new information is found.
